At E3 Splatoon project lead Tsubasa Sakaguchi talked about some of the offline modes available in the new Wii U shooter.
As one of the new reveals at this year's E3 from Nintendo, Splatoon was initially pitched as a competitive online third-person, strategic shooter, but it will also offer offline features for those who'd like to splatter paint locally.
Sakaguchi said in an interview that the local multiplayer will involve one player using the GamePad, and the other on the Wii U Pro Controller. The team would like this one-on-one mode to perhaps have "a lot more stalking and hiding in the ink. It'll be much more like a quiet mode in a sense."
However, there is still some uncertainty on "whether we're going to have one person on the TV and one person on the GamePad - we're not sure yet," when it comes to having individual screens.
Producer Hisashi Nogami also chimed in to highlight that because the game will be a full retail release, it will also include the single player and the local one-on-one multiplayer features.
What are your thoughts on the Splatoon concept so far?
