Suica NFC Payments Coming to Wii U on 22nd July on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Over in Japan Suica has partnered with Nintendo to allow for NFC payments using the Wii U GamePad.

The campaign now has a date, with the service running from 22nd July. It will require a system update, and allow for services to use the GamePad's NFC technology to make payments. The cards generally are used for trains or small shop transactions, but can now be used to make Wii U eShop purchases.

Points can also be accumulated using the card as well.

Nintendo are also running a promotion where, for every 100 Yen spent on the eShop via NFC cards, 30 coins will be earned for a game called Buta Medal (Pig Medal).
