Nintendo Outlines 2014 Corporate Social Responsibility on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo has posted its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report today, outlining various activities and initiatives.

As a global brand with a wide audience, Nintendo "aims to improve people's quality of life in enjoyable ways that only we can offer," reads the report. A fair bit of focus goes into the new "Quality of Life" platform, with Nintendo wanting to make daily "self-improvement enjoyable" to "be able to put smiles on customers' faces in a wider range of business fields".

Nintendo also outlines parental controls in consoles, efforts to prevent misuse of services like Swapnote, Miiverse moderation, awareness programs and age information ratings.

In terms of production, the CSR report also looks into Nintendo's approach to conflict material, on-site inspections and third-party monitoring to ensure everything is above board. Nintendo also launched a new eco-friendly development building in June that uses solar energy, having windows to allow for more natural light, plus a system to reuse rain water for plants and toilets.
