Night Trap ReVamped Won't Head to Nintendo Consoles

Night Trap ReVamped Won

Night Trap ReVamped won't be heading to Nintendo platforms, the creators said in a statement.

The game, a horror experience, involves a group of teenagers who arrived at an isolated home for weekend. Not all is at it seems, however, as deadly creatures stalk the hallways and the neighbour has invented a deadly laser weapon.

The developer is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, but the project won't be available on Nintendo systems due to "too much bad blood" between them and Nintendo.

Ever hear the term "never burn bridges?" Well, Howard Lincoln, the former president of Nintendo US, made our lives miserable during the 1994 Senate Hearings on Video Game Violence. Not only did he quietly suggest to congressman, though the use of Nintendo-supplied and heavily edited footage, that they should demonize Night Trap rather than Nintendo's Mortal Combat, but he also declared publicly that Night Trap would never appear on a Nintendo system.

And he was right: as much as Nintendo desperately needs publishers to support their third-place platform, we won't be one of them. There's just too much bad blood between us and them.

Do you think Nintendo should make amends for Night Trap ReVamped?

Smilie Cry me a river Smilie

Howard Lincoln? Still harping on about that after he's long retired? Maybe they don't forgive Yamauchi-san either, despite him being long gone from this world.

Suck it up guys and deal with it, seriously.

I honestly don't see this making the initial target - seems way too much for what it is. Just a bunch of old pervs who fascinate about scantily clad teenage girls in a house...

pfft, if this gets funded it will only be for the outdated novelty of it, its not even a good game.

The girl in the shower scene was supposed to be teenage o_O ? The actress sure didn't look like it XD. Bu then again, back then, they'd feed you people in their thirties in most TV series about teenagers so Smilie.

Well, Howard Lincoln, the former president of Nintendo US, made our lives miserable during the 1994 Senate Hearings on Video Game Violence.

Howard Lincoln was never president of NOA.

And he was right: as much as Nintendo desperately needs publishers to support their third-place platform, we won't be one of them.

By what metric is he placing the consoles? Generally it's done by sales, but Xbox One is securely in 3rd place at the moment.

I've never hoped for a Kickstarter to not succeed before, but between those two inaccuracies (and it makes me question the accuracy of their other statements) plus the lengthy Kotaku article about how sloppy and risky their Kickstarter is (http://kotaku.com/night-trap-creators-defend-sloppy-kickstarter-sorta-1620307753) it really makes me think these guys are looking for attention and a pay day as opposed to actually having a genuine desire to bring the game back.
