Details from Nintendo's recent restructuring have emerged, showing a more unified approach to hardware/software development.
The shiny new building, which now blends both hardware and software departments, was put together to improve efficiency and allow for expansion. Around 1000 developers from the Nintendo central office and 100 developers from the Kyoto Research Offices were transferred to the new Kyoto development building, with Katsuya Eguchi leading the EAD groups as department manager.
The building also includes the SDD team (Miiverse, OS, Networking), with over 100 staff focusing on network infrastructure and network-based applications. As for Intelligent Systems, the team has also left the Kyoto offices, into their new private building.
The move and internal structure, however, has lead to a delay of Kyoto-based development to 2015.
Other related points include a 40/50% ratio of female staff in the graphics/art department, plus Sakamoto and his team potentially forming a new identity at somepoint.
Finally, Nintendo are hiring a number of contract workers, with a "high retention rate" after their contracts are over, mainly for EAD Tokyo.
