Home Menu Themes Arriving for Nintendo 3DS in October Update on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo 3DS owners will soon be able to apply personalised Home Menu themes in a planned October system update.

Customisable backgrounds, icons, folders, music and sound effects will come in a variety of Nintendo themes, including Zelda, Mario and Animal Crossing. A Themes Store will be added to the eShop to purchase themes for current and upcoming games.

Really like the themes idea for the 3DS.

Wii U could definitely easily do themes as well. There is already the Animal Crossing Wara Wara Plaza. Just need a way to make different plazas the default plaza.

Won't do a Metroid one until there's a Metroid game to promote. Would love a Metroid theme though.

Will be nice to finally see a bit of colour on the 3DS menu. Hopefully this means WiiU Plaza themes are coming too. Would love to see all the Miis running through Phendrana Drifts instread of a hellish lifeless space.

Hmmm but i wonder how much....its nice, but i reckon these should come with their affiliated game. E.g You buy Animal Crossing then you get the Animal Crossing skin...

How much would people be willing to pay?
