Dragon Quest X Shipments Halted After Performance Issues on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The 3DS version of Square Enix's Dragon Quest X Online launched in Japan last week, but the developer is now temporarily delaying shipments of the game in order to address performance issues.

The developer claims to have underestimated the processing power required to support the amount of simultaneous players in the MMORPG. The 3DS port is the first version to utilise cloud streaming to run the game, rather than the Wii U, Wii and PC versions, which run it natively.

Maintenance yesterday fixed an issue with sound skipping but players are still having difficulty logging in at peak times. Square Enix hopes to allow shipments of the game to resume in reduced quantity starting on 11th September.

There are currently no official plans to release Dragon Quest X Online in the West.
