Miyamoto Working on a Animated Pikmin Film on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto has been working on a animated take on the world of Pikmin.

Called Pikmin Short Movie, the adventure will be broken up into three episodes called "Midnight Juice," "The Treasure Inside the Bottle," and "One Tough Day." Devised in CGI and to be shown in 3D, the film is intended to showcase ideas that Miyamoto and the team couldn't explore in the critically acclaimed game series.

The movie will make its debut during the Tokyo International Film Festival and shown at the Toho Cinemas Nihonbashi for free, with tickets distributed via raffle.

No word on a Western release just yet, but with the potential for fairly minimal dialogue, a localised version more than likely.

If its 3D then a 3DS release would be a no brainer.

The 3DS is probably the best platform for 3D films and animation, yet not used for it. Nintendo Video being killed off, and no YouTube support. The worlds biggest selling autosteroscopice device is missing out!
