Eiji Aonuma Announces a New Weapon Type for upcoming Hyrule Warriors DLC on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

To celebrate the launch of the highly anticipated Hyrule Warriors in North America, the game's Supervisor Eiji Aonuma gave North American Miiverse users a sneak peek at an additional weapon type that will be included in the Master Quest Pack, the first of four announced paid DLC packages that's set to be released on 16th October. Link will be able to team up with his trusty steed Epona to trample his enemies and gallop through the battlefield. Although the price for the Master Quest Pack on its own has yet to be announced, fans can already buy a bundle that includes all four packs set to be released in the coming months for the price of £13.49. Doing so will also unlock a special Dark Link costume that's useable immediately.

This was definitely an obvious one as far as ideas for additional weapons for Link go, so I'm glad it's actually happening and isn't just an extra feature, but a full weapon type with its own move set. The only other two characters I could actually imagine fighting while riding a horse would be Zelda and Ganondorf, but it's far more significant for Link to have it.

Hope Epona has some good mobility compared to many other weapons and characters. Obviously this is all simply preparation for the Cucco mode I suggested yesterday, where moving quickly will be crucial. Smilie

Great idea, I love it.

I just hope that the rest of the DLC won't focus on Link that much. Give the other characters some new items/costumes too!
