During a Q&A session, Nintendo discussed the company's plans for NFC/amiibo going forward.
Having applied the technology to the likes of Pokémon Rumble U and soon to implement amiibo figures with Super Smash Bros. Wii U, Iwata highlighted fans to make "many more games compatible with amiibo from next year," with different forms of communication - not necessarily just figures - like amiibo cards. Shigeru Miyamoto, famed Nintendo designer, also touched on plans to release smaller/more affordable figures in the future, as well.
Iwata feels that Nintendo's approach to amiibo with multiple titles will give customers a "sense of wonder" when discovering how these figures work with different games.
Nintendo have been trying to get this across to the internal development teams, that "we are creating a new entertainment category by tapping into that feeling" and "our tendency to think about new ways to take advantage of amiibo has been spreading," said Iwata.
Iwata feels that amiibo needs to be a rapid process, as well, likening the data transfer to NFC cards at train gates.
Where would you like Nintendo take the amiibo platform?
