Nintendo Started Majora's Mask 3D Shortly After Ocarina of Time 3D

Nintendo Started Majora

Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has taken to Miiverse to discuss The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D project.

Since announcing the project during Nintendo Direct last week, Aonuma has explained how the game came about. Majora's Mask 3D was in development "almost immediately after we finished working on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, which was released in June of 2011," he confirmed.

Despite having worked on the project for some time, Aonuma noted how the team didn't want to make any announcements until "we could proudly say that this is not going to be just another remake and that it's going to be worth your time."

That said, Aonuma would consistently tease "please wait a bit longer!" when asked by press and fans.

Nintendo want to make sure "the gameplay experience is smoother than in the original version without taking away from this unique world," and Aonuma hopes those that may have given up on the original would "take this opportunity to give the new version a try."

The team aren't tainting the game's look, so The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D will still have "a scary vibe", with Aonuma warning, "Brace yourselves for what this world has to offer!"

we could proudly say that this is not going to be just another remake and that it's going to be worth your time.

Very interesting. I wonder if we'll get a Master Quest mode or something along those lines?

I hope so - it would tempt me more, with this sort of bonus content - even if it's just remixing the dungeons themselves.

Always wanted a mission mode for Zelda, that would be great too, if possible. So mini "deliver this" type quests, horde matches etc.

Could take advantage of the 3DS features in some way maybe.
Maybe the ingame camera players with the real world camera somehow?

I am not expecting an extra dungeon or anything, that would be too much to hope, but I think they could add bits here and there now theres a camera, gyro, touchscreen and internet to play with.

Maybe something with masks and streatpass?

I just thought about how that could used with a horror game where they augment the inner facing camera to somehow do a reflection of your face in the top screen unexpectedly. It's the type of thing Eternal darkness' sanity effects could fuck around with. Or a psycomantis (MGS) style boss.

Seems too late in the dev cycle but it would have been cool to some how intergrate spot pass mii's into townsfolk. Although I guess that would screw up the art style some how. Unless they had a MiiTown (sounds like an awful idea when I say it out loud) ...

Love the camera idea, the other idea would be ok if the styles could match. Might be tricky.

I always thought a Zelda came with simple signposts you could write and  leave eachother would be nice. Just anywhere on the overworld. Maybe let you bury a treasure too so you could set up a little mini-quest to find it.

That's a brilliant idea! Rupees would be quite useful Smilie
