Over 100,000 amiibo Figures Sold in Japan so far on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Japanese sales tracker Media Create has confirmed that over 100,000 amiibo figures have been sold in Japan alone, so far.

The popular Nintendo figures, which allow NFC/wireless connectivity to selected Wii U (and future 3DS) games, have been much sought after going into the holiday season. Media Create has tallied up figures of 104,000 units since launch.

Hylian superstar Link, who is compatible with Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, proved to be the most popular with 16,000 units sold.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, whilst selling well at 228,000 units in Japan, was actually far lower than the 820,000 sales figure for the previous home-console release, Brawl, however.
