Decorate Ace Combat Planes with amiibo Characters on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

More amiibo functionality has been confirmed with the inclusion of Nintendo's iconic characters in Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy+.

The upcoming game takes players into the dizzying highs, soaring above the clouds in fighter planes, engaging in heated battles across the skies. Regular fighter jets, however, maybe a little dull and Nintendo has the solution - decorate these flying metal machines with a lick of Nintendo paint.

By linking amiibo figures, Nintendo fans can use custom artwork - for example Link would unlock the F-14D "Link" plane.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy+ will soar into Japan on 29th January.

Nice to see the amiibo being integrated right away unlike the whole mii debacle during the Wii era. Also great that they are adding value instead of just taking up space and emptying wallets.

It's a shame that a new 3ds is needed to use these features though. (At least I assume that is the case)

Quite a cool idea for Amiibo integration though. It'd be nice to see the Amiibo range expand to characters outside of smash Bros and perhaps get much bigger stocks of each kind!

I own all the consoles, ask me anything

I sure hope this gets released in the west. Smilie

Chance favors the prepared mind.

They showed this in the Japanese Nintendo Direct of November. Good to see it's also coming to the west, I guess.
