In an interview, Eiji Aonuma shares what inspiration he's taken from the Hyrule Warriors project: open world boss battles.
With the Legend of Zelda spin-off game being developed by a completely different team to the main series games, there have been new mechanics and ideas for long-term Zelda fans.
When asked about what ideas Aonuma might take forward for the new Wii U Legend of Zelda game, he said that what left an impression was "how the big bosses can actually move across the map while you're fighting them." It's an element of the gameplay design that isn't typically seen in Nintendo-developed Zelda adventures as "bosses are usually in enclosed spaces."
It's this sort of approach that "feels fresh", Aonuma said, and that "it also works really well in an expansive world, which is what we're planning to do." The more dynamic boss approach is "the kind of gameplay we'd really like to incorporate."
