Fan Sprucing up Paper Mario with New Textures on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

A fan's been rebuilding the original Paper Mario game for almost five years as New Paper Mario.

The project involves replacing each of the game's many textures with redone, reworked and enhanced visuals that can be enabled through a Nintendo 64 emulator. Various other games have gone through a similar, high-definition, approach in in the past, with a community of fans eager to bring Nintendo's classics bang up to date.

"I started this project in 2010 and because there is an incredibly huge number of textures (and because I also have a life) it is still nowhere close to being completed," said creator Nelde.

It would be cool if Nintendo officially did some retexturing and remastering of a few older games.

This looks pretty impressive.
