Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyrics Patch Detailed by Fans on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric was, to put it simply, a bit of a mess. Glitchy, rushed, and poorly designed, it received a 1/10 when reviewed by the Cubed3 team late last year. Now, however, it looks like developers Big Red Button are trying to fix a few of the problems.

A patch was released for the game last week although no patch notes were present, leaving players to figure out what was fixed for themselves. Luckily, members of a Sonic fansite have stepped in to make their own unofficial list of patch notes.

So far, it's been determined that two major glitches are gone: one that allowed players to exit several levels by escaping their boundaries, and another game-breaking glitch that allowed Knuckles the Echidna to jump infinitely.

As well as that, the developers appear to have rectified the framerate, which suffered serious knocks during the game's 'speed sections' with a particularly big hit taken on loop-de-loops. Some lighting and shadow issues have also been fixed. (Note that 'shadow issues' do not refer to the hedgehog of the same name.)

The patch also adds small navigation arrows to help players reach objectives - although it's been reported that these themselves are broken, ignoring some key items required to beat the game.

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is available now on Wii U. Its 3DS sibling, Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, is also available now and fares slightly better.
