In an interview with Nintendo's Damon Baker, he explained why only the New Nintendo 3DS XL made the cut in the US.
Nintendo recently released two brand new additions to the ever-expanding 3DS family - the New Nintendo 3DS XL and the New Nintendo 3DS. Oddly, the latter isn't available across North America, just the New Nintendo 3DS XL.
In Europe, folks have a choice between both hardware SKUs.Baker noted how "the face plates are super cool, but we're a different market" and how Nintendo of America wanted to have three very distinct models available: 2DS, 3DS and the New 3DS XL.
With the different functionality and features, plus "the different price points give it a clear message for consumers." He admitted that the decision wouldn't win over the core audience, but Nintendo "had to think about expanding the user base, we had to be able to market it and make it easy to pick up for consumers."
Do you agree with Nintendo of America's decision?
