How to Self-Trade in Classic Pokémon Games on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

One coder has used the open-source Arduino hardware to allow self-trading in classic Pokémon games.

The iconic catchphrase "Gotta catch 'em all" has resonated through the gaming community for almost two decades, with players keen to try to register each and every Pokémon to get heaps of praise from the region's professor.

The original titles on Game Boy and Game Boy Colour required some clever trading with a friend who had another console, but thanks to a little tweaking, Pepijn de Vos has been able to create a system for trading Pokémon with himself - no second console, no emulation or hacks required.

For more details, be sure to check out the project on GitHub.
