Another look at the Puzzle & Dragons, Mario Cross-Over on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo and GungHo have posted new footage of the Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition cross-over in action.

There's a story this time round, with a "Drop" that suddenly appears in the usually-peaceful Mushroom Kingdom. By harnessing this new power, the devious Bowser once again kidnaps poor Princess Peach and it's down to the porky plumbers to head out and save the day.

The game features similar Mario-styled courses and power-ups, but with the Puzzle & Dragons mechanics to introduce a new style of battle play to Mario fans.

Characters include:

  • Fire Mario - increases attack/healing of Fire-type allies by 1.5x.
  • Tail Luigi - increases health/attack of Wood-type allies by 1.5x
  • Ghost Mario - increases attack of all allies by 2.5x when attacking three or more different elemental types.
  • Statue Mario - increase ally attacks by 3x as long as all allies have health above 50%
  • Yellow Yoshi - triples attack for all allies when using Water, Wood and Light moves.
  • Green Yoshi - triples attack for all allies when using Fire, Wood and Dark moves.
The game is set to release on 29th April 2015 in Japan, with a US release planned for May.

Are you a fan of the Puzzles & Dragons concept - can it work with the Mario series?
