So Whose Soul is in the Fierce Deity Mask? on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

In the latest issue of US magazine Game Informer, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma talked about the Fierce Deity Mask.

In The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, many of the masks were forged to contain the memories of those who had passed away. Aonuma suggests that "becoming them is actually really painful because it's like hosting a really powerful spirit that's coming into you."

The story behind the primary masks in the game were explained, however it's left some questions about the Fierce Deity Mask - just whose soul is in there? Aonuma replied, "The best way to think about it is that the memories of all the people of Termina are inside of the Fierce Deity Mask."

What are your theories behind the mask?

i always theorized that Zelda's Sheik disguise was a mask/face/soul of a sheikah she knew... a ninja guy that may have been a body guard for her when she grew up and probably died and the same weirdo magic the mask salesman was used to make a mask out of the actual sheik dude.

Wasn't there a theory that Fierce Deity was the ancient nemesis of Majora? I think I preferred that story...

As Link is dead in Majoras Mask I would say that it is his own depiction of what he thought of himself from OoT. He's such a self believing martyr!

It's only a theory that he is dead.

... not sure if you're trolling, but that theory was debunked before it got popular. Link had offspring after he came back to Hyrule, which is one of the reasons he can't be dead.

I should read the manga then. Smilie Thanks.

Lol it was intended more of a joke Smilie

Good, good. Smilie
