Make New Japanese Nintendo 3DS Consoles Region Free on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

A new, custom firmware pack for New Nintendo 3DS consoles released for Japanese consoles allows region-free play. Devised by a programmer Cell9, the NTR CFW 2.0 firmware allows these New Nintendo 3DS consoles to play U.S. and European retail games.

This particular piece of software doesn't support pirated/homebrew titles and also removes access to the Japanese eShop. What NTR CFW 2.0 does include, however, is a custom menu that allows for screenshots to be captured.

NTR CFW 2.0 supports New Nintendo 3DS consoles with firmware versions 8.1.0/9.1.0/9.2.0 and requires an imported copy of the now notorious Cubic Ninja in order to work.

Will you make your Japanese New Nintendo 3DS region free?
