Update Available for IronFall: Invasion on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

A game update for Ironfall includes a range of improvements and gameplay tweaks.

Available now on the Nintendo eShop, the game has been tinkered with by developers VD-DEV, by taking into account feedback on Miiverse and Twitter since the initial release back in February. The updated features and content include:

Menu Changes:

  • In the Controls menu of the game's settings, the "Aim Sensitivity" and "Camera Sensitivity" sliders have been expanded with more increments to allow for finer tuning according to the player's preference.
Multiplayer Changes:
  • In the "free-for-all" game mode, players who leave a game before the end have their score reset.
  • The range of the "shock gun" item has been increased.
  • The damage and bullet statistics of the "grenade launcher", "explosive rifle" and "shotgun" items have been adjusted accordingly to reflect balance issues noticed in user comments.
  • The respawn algorithm has been improved.
Control Changes:
  • During a sprint, it is now easier to turn left and right.
  • The U-turn command (pressing back twice) has been improved to decrease involuntary U-turns; it is now necessary to press back twice in a faster way than before.
The following features are available to those who have purchased content for Ironfall:

Multiplayer Changes:

  • When joining a quick online match, it is possible for players to filter out the "Tanks (Demo)" map from their quick online match search, to allow for more variety in the automatic selection of arenas.
  • Players will now remain invincible for 4 seconds when they respawn.
  • Players will now also receive credits if they finish in second place.

Control Changes:

  • It is now possible to take cover while sprinting.
  • There is now an additional lock-on on the vertical (Y) axis in aim mode.
Have you noticed any of the changes in the game so far?

All those control changes, and not one mention of using face buttons to aim on older systems. A shame.

Resident Evil Revelations pulled it off quite well, would have been nice to have a similar control scheme in this game. I might have actually considered purchasing the single player content if it did.

Revelations as far as I can remember didn't allow for aiming with the face buttons. I played the whole game without the circle pad pro despite owning one, face buttons were used for actions rather than aiming. You may have that confused with MGS 3D unless you just meant that RE:R managed to pull off a decent control scheme for those who didn't have the circle pad pro, to which I wholeheartedly agree. (EDIT: Or maybe aiming with face buttons in RE:R was a different control option that I simply never noticed and never used, now that I think about it)

Well perhaps the control changes would make it a more playable and enjoyable game. Not so much the solo campaign which will surely still feel boring, but the multiplayer might actually be a lot more fun with actually good controls. Have to try that out, give it another chance.

Most certainly Revelations. A game I loved enough to buy twice (PC then 3DS version). Playing on the 2DS, the Circle Pad Pro wasn't an option for me.

Got Metal Gear Solid 3 on PS2 and PS3, but still not the 3DS release. Smilie

You don't have much reason to buy it on 3DS if you already own those other two versions, especially if you don't plan on playing with a second stick on the 3DS, cause I couldn't get into it without the circle pad pro, it's the game that made me buy one. It's stellar with it, but not comfortable to play at all without it, you want the accuracy of a stick to aim in first person, rather than simple buttons.

Its only a consideration because I love stealth games, but without Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (AKA Metal Gear Solid [GBC]) on the virtual console, there isn't much to speak of for the system.
