How Local Multiplayer Works in Splatoon on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Earlier this week Nintendo Treehouse held a live playthrough session with some of the key modes in Wii U shooter, Splatoon.

After Nintendo Direct, the company put on a half-hour session for Splatoon, highlighting three of the game's main features - a 1 vs 1 local match, heated online battles and a more strategic single player story.

When playing two players, one would use the Wii U Pro Controller, whilst the other uses the GamePad - both compete to pop the most balloons. For online matches, the single player sees an overview map on the GamePad's touchscreen.

The Treehouse Team also touched on how Splatoon amiibo figures work, with these being used to unlock alternative weapon missions and gear in single player.

What are your thoughts on the game so far?

I hope this isn't the only local mode. I really wanted to do shootouts with my brother and sister, not just pop balloons Smilie

My blog, mostly about writing:

I wonder if you can do two player online like Mario kart 8? One using the gamepad screen and one using the TV would be decent.
