Splatoon Trailer Shows Ranked Battles, Battle Dojo and Amiibo Compatibility on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

In a recent YouTube trailer for Splatoon, Nintendo talks about Ranked Battles, in which players will play to compete for a high online ranking in teams of four. These come with various rule modes that are different from the Turf War mode, including Zone War, in which the two teams will compete for control over a specific zone of the map.

There will also be a Battle Dojo mode in which two players compete against one another locally to pop the most balloons. This mode will use the same stages as the online modes and will be a great place to train up the skills and to learn the stages before joining the fierce online battles.

It was also revealed that amiibo will be released alongside Splatoon and that they will be compatible with the title. Said amiibo will be used to access special missions given out by them, and by doing these missions, players will gain access to special equipment that can only be obtained by completing them.

The amiibo will be released on the same day as Splatoon on May 29th, and will come in a pack of three, which contains the Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl and Inkling Squid amiibo. Additionally, the Inkling Boy and Inkling Girl amiibo can be bought separately.

Will you pick up any of the Splatoon amiibo, and if so, which ones?

If this has co-op online multiplayer(console vs console) this will be amazing. If its single player only, its gonna be average.

Team v Team = Fun
Group of individuals v Group of individuals = not so much

It'll be the difference between 7/10 review scores and 9/10. I'm hoping for the latter but predicting the former

From my understanding of information so far revealed so will it most likely be the later sadly. Hopefully we might at least be able to play non-randomized, if not it would be bull. I would love to bring my friends over to my place with their tv's and Wii U and sit there having a live team battle. Hilarious games would await if that's the case! Smilie If not, I agree. This will play a big part in how good this game will turn out. :/ To play in team with random strangers is just as fun as playing with AI's...

The difference between illusion and reality is vague to the one who suffers from the former and questionable for the one suffering form the later.
