Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata has touched on the company's plans to create an dedicated membership service.
One of the key areas of the Nintendo business that fans have clamoured for in recent years is having a dedicated, and simple account service between different devices - shared data, preferences and game downloads. This has been realised, in part, with the Nintendo Network, but the company has plans to take this further with an "integrated membership service."
Iwata intends on sharing more concrete details at a later date, but the overall idea is "that the consumer can access multiple devices using one common ID." This is also intended to "bridge the gap between smart devices and dedicated game systems," so that Nintendo can "offer advantages to consumers who use one ID across multiple devices."
By logging into the Nintendo website with the single ID, players can "receive various services including the ones based on their past purchases and gameplay records as well as services that will be an improved version of the current loyalty program," Iwata confirmed to investors today.
Whether it's the new dedicated Nintendo "NX" platform, or a smartphone, Nintendo are aiming to "deploy services that will make playing Nintendo games with their game pals more fun regardless of which platform they are accessing."
