Project CARS Wii U Could Crash and Burn on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The future of Project CARS on Wii U could be in danger, with turbulent times during development.

The team at Slightly Mad Studios are currently focusing their attention on the much-anticipated Nintendo Wii U release of the striking car-racing simulator, but have been experiencing issues during development.

In various posts on the official Project CARS forum (via NintendoEverything), team member Ian Bell revealed that the game may not happen as the current build is running around 23 fps and 720p. Bell noted that the graphics need to be scaled down, or development potentially shifted to Nintendo's next console.

The game hasn't been officially cancelled just yet, but these issues could well spell the end for a Wii U gig for Project CARS.

Are you planning on jumping into the Project CARS seat on Wii U?

They may as well move it to Nintendo's next console now. It will sell sh*t anyway and no one will want a poor version of the game. If they can't get it locked 30fps at 720p, then no point. Most people want racing games at 60fps, it's a genre that benefits most from a high framerate. So 30fps is at least the very essential.

I honestly think the NX will be out by Winter 2016 and the new Zelda will be a launch game.

It's a problem I've seen with a few other crowdfunded-type projects also. Devs just listing every platform but no actual research/planning into the different platforms to find out what can or can't be done on them.

With projects like Yooka-Laylee, I feel confident with the goals but for certain games/devs people really need to be cautious when WiiU is listed alongside PS4/X1.

EDIT: That Ian Bell fella has shown himself to be a complete dick and I'd be really concerned if I was at Namco or Slightly Mad as it reflects badly on them. Devs need to not bite back when dealing with trolls instead of acting like one themselves.

2016 already? I personally think that Nintendo, no matter how much it will hurt, are going to wait until 2017 so that the Wii U get the essential 5 year life cycle that are expected as the bare minimum for consoles and not fulfilling that is brand damaging in the long run. I think Nintendo rather take a short run hit than a long run brand damage tbh.

On this subject: Developers should do their research before talking the talk, otherwise they might be unable to walk the walk. Do not let your mouth write checks your programming can't deliver.

The difference between illusion and reality is vague to the one who suffers from the former and questionable for the one suffering form the later.
