Regular 3DS owners needn't miss out however - although the game's focus is on amiibo, Nintendo are releasing a special NFC reader that allows the ordinary 3DS to read the amiibo cards released alongside the game. These cards will be available in blind packs of 3 and will cost 300 yen (around £1.50) each.
