Metroid Prime series producer Kensuke Tanabe feels that the next game will be on the new Nintendo NX console.
Fans have craved a new Metroid title - regardless of 2D or 3D - for some time now, after the mixed reception for Metroid: Other M. Then came Metroid Prime: Federation Force, announced this week at E3 as a spin-off multiplayer title.
But what about the adventures of a certain bounty hunter? If we started for Wii U now, it would likely take three years or so. So it would likely now be on Nintendo's NX console," said Tanabe in an interview with Eurogamer.
He teased ideas that involved a planet that has a time-shifting mechanic, which is just one of the concepts he had in mind - but he feels that "many people thought that [Metroid Prime 2: Echoes] was too difficult."
With a new game, Tanabe woudld like a new Metroid Prime title to be a numbered release too, starting a new trilogy.
For the moment, he isn't thinking about partnering with another studio and has nothing to announce just yet.
Would you like to see a new Metroid - if so, 2D or 3D?
