Nintendo Applies Console-Wide Miiverse Restriction

Ever since Nintendo rolled out Miiverse, a message board-like game community, some people have elected to abuse the system, be it harassing others or posting naughty images. Such users, when found by Nintendo staff, received a temporary or permanent posting ban, but some die-hard tricksters could simply make a new account and continue their hijinx.

A new Miiverse update seeks to circumvent this, adding a system-wide restriction. Now, a ban will result in all accounts on the user's system being restricted, even new ones created after the restriction is put in place.

Some Miiverse users are already expressing discontent with the idea, as a troublesome sibling or mod misunderstanding can now get an entire family put under Miiverse house arrest. Whether this new system solves the problem or becomes a bigger one remains to be seen.
