Moffitt: Nintendo is Listening to the Fanbase on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo are listening to fans, says  Scott Moffitt, Executive VP of Sales at Nintendo of America.

With Nintendo releasing a range of different games and receiving a mixture of feedback on decisions and lack of certain franchises, it's lead some to question whether the company are listening to requests from the ever-passionate fanbase.

As a company with a wide audience, particularly in terms of age, naturally it would be a daunting task to satisfy everyone's demands, but Nintendo do "listen to our game fans a lot", said Moffitt in an interview with Examiner. "We're always curious to [see] their reaction to new games like Splatoon."

Nintendo are very much aware with what's going on in the industry too, as "broad look and always pay attention to what is going on beyond our walls with trends, but it starts with listening really carefully to our gamers."

Do you think Nintendo are paying enough attention to the community?

What utter bull! I'm happy with my Nintendo games but I really doubt they are listening to the fan base as much as they claim!

I personally am very pleased with the changes Nintendo are doing thanks to them listening to their fanbase. Nintendo really seem to know what their fans wants (or at least me) out of late. Smilie

How do they listen to the fanbase? If they were.. we would have got an FZERO with online play.. not fzero tracks for MK8!

Wii Code: 6399-3866-6269-0745
PSN: SherWiinator Currently playing: LOZ: SS
Wishlist: Last Story, Pandora's tower, Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3

RPGs though... Dem RPGs they have started to deliver lately *drool*... A mountain of RPGs *drool*...

Its a balance. You gotta remember the vocal fanbase is probably only a small fraction of total sales so they sort of have to guess what the "silent majority" want.

I don't think it's so much an issue that they don't listen to what their fanbase want. I think they know perfectly well what their fanbase want, from listening to them. It's more that they don't ACT on what they know their fanbase want. Listening and acting on it are two very different things. We know that they know. Remember E3 2014, how they joked about someone asking them where Mother 3 was. They know about the game their fans want them to make, they hear ya all just fine, they're listening, but they just won't give you what you want.

I think Mother 3 is up soon. It is only natural really to start from the beginning and work onwards giving the first games before the last one is only natural to me when introducing them to a new market. One really has to play Mother 2 to truly understand the story of Mother 3. They have so far released 1 and 2. I doubt they will skip on 3... That would be stupid.

The issue is altogether a much different thing with Mother 3. Mato wants Nintendo to use His fan-translation, but I doubt Nintendo is ever going to do that, they'll want to have an official one, for sure, which costs much more than slapping already translated roms onto the Wii U like they did, so with that particular title, it's not THAT simple. But even then, yeah, I agree that it's becoming more likely and, given the lack of exciting things to announce, they might want to use that opportunity to generate some more excitement about the Wii U. Heck, Mother 3 alone might generate some Wii U hardware sales with the right people who didn't have one yet, I'm sure.

That Nintendo would use fanlations also strikes me as unlikely as the moon dropping down from the sky... It would not surprise me, however, if Nintendo has worked on that since they re-released Mother 2 on the Wii U. Otherwise they would likely not have joked about Mother 3, unless they were just trolling the audience.
