Wii U Firmware Update Vanquishes TVii Icon on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

A minor update has gone live for Wii U this morning, bringing the console up to version 5.5.0.

The update, which includes the usual array of stability and performance improvement for Nintendo's home console, has primarily been introduced to vanquish the ill-fated TVii from the setup. Nintendo scrapped the interactive TV service from Wii U this month, and the service had never quite made it across the pond to Europe. C'est la vie.

Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user's experience.

Were you using TVii on Wii U? Was Nintendo right in canning the service?

I updated my Wii U last week and it removed the TVii icon so I'm not sure what the newer update has done?

Yeah, this was for the US. Europe got rid of it a while back. :3
