For the first time here at Cubed3, as part of the INSiGHT series, the team is set to look at MyM Magazine, a must-read monthly magazine for anime and manga fans in the UK.
This month's issue has some great feature articles. On the reporting front, there's coverage of the recent Manchester MCM Comic-Con, which was covered by Cubed3 on both Day One and Day Two. With the magazine being owned by MCM, it has managed to get a real insider's perspective on the immensely popular event and there are some superb interviews, especially with the Anime guest of honour, Space Dandy scriptwriter, Kimiko Ueno. Then, from one of the biggest conventions of the UK to one of the biggest in the world, there's also a feature on attending SDCC, showing some of the highlights and lowlights of this year, along with some great cosplay from the event and plenty of coverage.
The anime spotlight this month looks at the huge popularity of idol-based anime, with a focus on the reigning champion of Idolmaster and the new unstoppable behemoth that is Love Live! and the rabid fan bases they have developed.
Anime fans will be happy to see that along with the reviews and previews of all the latest releases in the UK, there is a look at some of the best new series currently airing in Japan. Sadly, though, this covers only their Top Three anime from a season that is particularly full of things worth watching - it would be great to get a broader breakdown of what's on offer this summer.
Issue 41 of MyM is available now and includes all of this and plenty more, including reviews of all of this month's anime, manga, games and movies. Why wait? Get out there and grab a copy now!
