Last month, Rare staffer shared an intriguing look at Donkey Kong in his early days.
Before Nintendo's popular simian hit puberty and donned his famous red tie, he appeared in various different guises as the team at Rare penned different ideas. Meaty arms, slightly sinister smile and even a more chibi-fied version were potential looks for Donkey Kong as shared by Gregg Mayles on Twitter this week.

There's even a fax that Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto had sent through that suggested that DK should wear that very tie.
