How Will Nintendo Celebrate 30 Years of Zelda? on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

What does Nintendo have in store for the 30th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series?

It's hard to believe that the studio recently celebrated 25 years of adventuring through the land of Hyrule, and the 30th anniversary celebrations are only a stone's throw away (across Lake Hylia).

Famitsu magazine (translation via NE) took the opportunity to ask series producer Eiji Aonuma what the company have planned for the special milestone, to which he replied: "we hope something will take form for the 30th anniversary. It is especially important to a producer of the series, so I hope to give something everyone can look forward to next year."

The first game, The Legend of Zelda, launched in Japan on 21st February 1986, coming to the West a year later.

As for the company's latest main-series title, a new adventure for Wii U, Aonuma admitted that "we're doing our best. Everyday we improve it bit by bit. It is something that requires plenty of time, however, so please believe in us and wait."

How do you think Nintendo should celebrate three decades of Zelda?

It'll probably be the TP HD remake, right? Then Zelda U pushed to "early 2017" and then subsequently pushed onto NX...

An OOT anime film would be sweeet. Actually, MM too.

Fuck 30 years of Zelda...give me 30 years of Metroid or have they forgot about that completely.

IMO I think that there will be some limited edition hardware, game collections with a special edition of Zelda U. They'll probably update Hyrule historia and bundle that some where too. All good things but I'm still wanting some Metroid love as well!

Metroid will be getting Federation Force for it's 30th though would be a nice suprise if Metroid Prime 4 is announced for NX.

Looking forward to TP HD if real. I hope they take their time with the new Zelda. It's their biggest world yet so they need to get it right.

Lets get crazy;  Limited edition 3ds bundle with a Twilight Princess port.
(The new 3DS has the Wiis Xenoblade, so it should be possible to port the GCs Twlight Princess)

I think MM would be actually be easier to turn into a good anime film. OoT is a little too straight forward/collection-based.  MajorasMasks time loop has a bit more room for interesting things on film I think.
