GameStop is Publishing Song of the Deep on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Retailer GameStop will be making a first step into publishing by taking on indie game Song of the Deep.

GameStop announced today that it will be publishing the side-scrolling, Metroidvania-esque game by independent studio, Insomniac. It's an undersea tale, as you play a young girl on a quest to find her missing father by hopping into a rickety old submarine and exploring what lurks below ground.

The retailer isn't intending to become a full-fledged publisher just yet, but is trying to discover new opportunities within a market that's shifting heavily towards the online space.

Song of the Deep launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC this summer.
