Square Enix will be releasing the remastered versions of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 onto Steam on 12th May.

Already released for PS3, PS Vita and PS4, this new PC version of Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster features a number of enhancements, just like other recent PC ports of Square Enix's other Final Fantasy games.

FINAL FANTASY X tells the story of a star blitzball player, Tidus, who journeys with a young and beautiful summoner named Yuna on her quest to save the world of Spira from an endless cycle of destruction wrought by the colossal menace Sin.

FINAL FANTASY X-2 returns to the world of Spira two years after the beginning of the Eternal Calm. Having been shown a mysterious but familiar image in a sphere, Yuna becomes a Sphere Hunter and along with her companions Rikku and Paine, embarks on a quest around the world to find the answers to the mystery within.

Based on the international versions of the games that were previously only released in Japan and Europe, FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster brings these timeless classics forward to the current generation of fans, old and new alike.

Key Features:

  • Characters, monsters, and environments have been fine-tuned to HD detail, providing a richer, deeper FINAL FANTASY visual experience.
  • Other features in the PC version include remastered/rearranged BGM,
  • International Edition content,
  • Auto-save and 5 game boosters including high speed and no encounter modes.

Excellent news. High speed makes me so happy. Playing FFIX on PC atm, and it's just so good.

I have a question. I do remember the character models in X being quite horrible and static outside of key cutscenes, but they did look decent during custcenes, and I always regretted that in some sequences, the characters didn't look nearly as good. Do the characters in the HD version look great ALL THE TIME ?

Unfortunately, for whatever odd reason, they still do this in the HD version. It is quite jarring when models will switch from hi-res to low-res, even with cut-scenes where both are used amongst multiple characters (e.g. hi-res Tidus in the front, low-res Rikku in the back). You'd have thought with the HD version they'd use the hi-res in all situations, but they don't. I can't understand why. It's a lovely remaster, but this is one of the low points.
