Nintendo has reportedly delayed production of its NX console until next year in order to add virtual reality functionality, according to DigiTimes.
The move will also see the order volume reduced from 20 million units to 10 million units, sources claiming this is due to the unexpected poor sales of the Wii U and the overall "shrinking" of the console market - despite Sony's PS4 selling 40 million units this year.
Key components for Nintendo's next console will still be produced in late 2016 with full mass production starting in 2017.
The NX is set to bridge the gap between home and portable gaming and more information is expected later this year.
