Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Announced for PS4 on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Square Enix will be bringing Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, an HD remastering of the PS2 game, worldwide to PlayStation 4 in 2017.

Based on the Japan-exclusive International Zodiac Job System version, this update includes a number of new features on top of the revised gameplay and battle systems, including the option to flick between new and old soundtracks, choosing Japanese or English voices, hi-resolution updates to characters, backgrounds and movies, auto-save, speed mode, and much more.

FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE improves upon the 2006 classic FINAL FANTASY® XII, now more beautiful and easier to play than ever. The high-definition remaster introduces several modern advancements, including reconstructed battle design and a revamped job system. With newly implemented trophies and share functions, as well as stark visual and sound improvements in true HD for the first time, players both returning and new to the game will experience a grand adventure that spans the world of Ivalice in an entirely fresh and improved way.

  • Story
    Enter an era of war within the world of Ivalice. The small kingdom of Dalmasca, conquered by the Archadian Empire, is left in ruin and uncertainty. Princess Ashe, the one and only heir to the throne, devotes herself to the resistance to liberate her country. Vaan, a young man who lost his family in the war, dreams of flying freely in the skies. In a fight for freedom and fallen royalty, join these unlikely allies and their companions as they embark on a heroic adventure to free their homeland.

    What I would really like to see them doing is eliminating load times between areas. those have to go. On the PS2 it made sense that the vast environments were broken down into lots of smaller areas, but please eliminate that on PS4. there's really nothing to justify that they would still be there in this day and age.

    Well, shortened load times is one of the upgrades the statement mentions, so I imagine they will still be there. I don't think you can just so easily scrap location transitions from a game world that used them before. It would be nice to have them removed, but I think it'd be more work than necessary for a big game like this. Quick load times should suffice.

    Great news anyway. Looking forward to it.

    Finally ^^ FFXII is one of my favourite games ever so have been waiting a long time for this. Can't wait to hear the remastered soundtrack.
