Two more amiibo have been announced for release alongside the upcoming Nintendo Switch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: Zelda and Bokoblin.
Their exact in-game functionality has not yet been detailed.
In addition to the new BotW amiibo, previously released Zelda amiibo will also be compatible with Breath of the Wild. Ocarina of Time Link gives players a random amount of meat, The Wind Waker Toon Zelda gives a random selection of plants, The Wind Waker Toon Link gives a random amount of fish, and 8-bit Link gives players a random number of barrels to smash.
Scanning in the Wolf Link amiibo that was released alongside The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD will unlock Wolf Link as a companion in the game. Wolf Link can attack enemies, sniff out certain items, and help scrounge for food. The number of hearts Wolf Link has is determined by the remaining number of hearts possessed after completing the Cave of Shadows (or three hearts if the Cave of Shadows has not been played).
The two new amiibo join the three previously announced BotW amiibo: Link (Rider), Link (archer) and Guardian. All five will be available at the game's launch on March 3rd.
