A quick and simple bit of maths and it's revealed this 60th issue of a monthly magazine would mean that we've hit five years of MyM Magazine! This anniversary issue has a well deserving recipient on the cover spot this month, with A Silent Voice taking pride of place. This adaptation of Yoshitoki Oima's manga was very well received when it was recently shown at Scotland loves Anime as part of the Glasgow Film Festival and MyM had the unique opportunity while there to speak with the film's director, Naoko Yamada, about this very special film.
The exclusive interviews are often a key staple of MyM and that trend continues here. Along with Yamada-sensei, there is also a chat with Fady Elsayed - the star of the new Doctor Who spin-off - and familiar British actor, Tom Holland, who will soon be chasing down his brother Samwell to return a certain sword in the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. There are also interviews with Jeremy Gillespie and Steven Kostanski on new movie The Void and also an interview with Lost star Meriadoc Brandybuck himself in a role quite unlike anything else he's been in before, in a chilling new horror.
On the event features front, a very special comic event has big coverage in this issue. 2000AD has been a huge part of British comics and British pop culture for 40 years, and the team celebrated with a huge festival that included some of the biggest names in the industry, some eye-opening panels, and some amazing art all around, from sketching artists to gorgeous screen prints from Vice Press. MyM was on hand to get some insider news, exclusives quotes, and some glimpses at what's coming next for 2000AD.
The reviews section is full to bursting with plenty of titles that fans have been desperate to get their hands on. The phenomenal The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is finally here, the next generation of Naruto hits the Ultimate Ninja Storm series with Road to Boruto and Ubisoft's new IP, For Honor, arrives. Big movies are out this month, too, with Hugh Jackman's swansong to the James Howlett / Wolverine character in Logan, and the best zombie movie in forever, with Seoul Station. While anime this month is represented by shows like Show by Rock, Brothers Conflict for the Fujoshi, and both One Piece 16 and Fairy Tail 12 for the Shonen fans.
All this, and some amazing new cosplay pictures, articles, and interviews, premium lolita tea parties in Tokyo, all the new anime hitting Amazon Prime, a look at the best tabletop miniature games, and plenty more - MyM Magazine, Issue 60, is available now from all good retailers.
