Nintendo Unveils Plethora of Switch Games on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo outlined major upcoming waypoints on the continuing journey that started with the launch of the Nintendo Switch console in March. This summer, Nintendo renews its commitment to fun multiplayer gaming anytime, anywhere, with anyone, with fun games like Splatoon 2, ARMS and Pokkén Tournament DX, the first Pokémon title for Nintendo Switch. Tournaments featuring all three games will take place this week during the E3 video game trade show, which runs through 15th June in Los Angeles.

Then later this year, Nintendo Switch owners will get to explore glorious new Kingdoms with Super Mario Odyssey, the first 3D sandbox-style Mario adventure in more than 15 years. Visitors to Nintendo's booth at E3 this week will be the first members of the public to get their hands on the game.

Today's Nintendo Spotlight: E3 2017 video featured new Nintendo Switch games in the Yoshi, Kirby and Xenoblade Chronicles series, plus new looks at key titles such as Super Mario Odyssey. The video also announced the development of Metroid Prime 4 and a new Pokémon RPG for Nintendo Switch.

This year, Nintendo will see a constant delivery of great games for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS, headlined by Super Mario Odyssey on Switch. Players roam massive 3D Kingdoms to collect Power Moons to power Mario's airship, The Odyssey. The Kingdoms around the globe are filled with secrets and surprises. Mario can don a variety of costumes and interact with his environment in many creative ways, such as by driving vehicles or exploring sections as Pixel Mario. Mario's new partner, Cappy, gives him new moves like Cap Throw, Cap Jump and Capture, which provide a fresh take on the classic Super Mario formula and define this new adventure. The game offers new locales like the skyscraper-packed New Donk City. Three Super Mario Odyssey series amiibo figures - Mario, Princess Peach and Bowser in their wedding outfits - will be sold individually and as a three-pack when the game launches on 27th October. These amiibo can be seen in Nintendo's booth at E3, alongside two new amiibo figures in the Super Mario series: Goomba and Koopa Troopa.

Other upcoming games for Nintendo Switch:

Pokkén Tournament DX from BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc. and The Pokémon Company will let players take direct control of the prized Pokémon fighters to defeat other Pokémon in arena battles. With new fighters on the roster and new support Pokémon, this is the definitive version of the game, which saw a strong fan reaction to the Wii U original. Pokkén Tournament DX launches on 22nd September.

In Yoshi's new game, players explore a huge world decorated like a miniature diorama. Each side-scrolling stage has the traditional front side as well as a back side where players can explore the world from a different view to find new surprises. Yoshi's new adventure begins in 2018.

In the first mainline Kirby game for Nintendo Switch, the ever-friendly puffball can recruit enemies by hitting them with hearts to gather a party of up to four characters, or join with up to three friends for co-op play. Kirby can even combine copy abilities to create combo attacks for defeating enemies and solving puzzles. This game will release in 2018.

In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the latest entry in the acclaimed RPG series, a new hero will seek out Elysium on an immense journey through a brand-new world. The game launches this winter. Also, in Fire Emblem Warriors from KOEI TECMO GAMES, players take control of favourite Fire Emblem franchise characters such as Marth, Xander and female Corrin, as well as new characters exclusive to this game. Players unleash over-the-top moves and strategise with the classic weapons triangle as they try to defeat hordes of fighters in a variety of areas, including some that are inspired by well-known Fire Emblem locations, such as Hoshido Castle. Fire Emblem Warriors launches this autumn for Nintendo Switch. It will also be available for New Nintendo 3DS XL, New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 2DS XL in the future.

Nintendo Switch will enjoy strong third-party support from some of the top publishers and developers in the industry. A sampling includes:

Rocket League from Psyonix lets up to eight players compete in a high-powered hybrid of arcade football and driving. The Switch version of the game includes exclusive Customisation Items and Battle-Cars. The game launches winter 2017.

As a special treat for Nintendo fans, select items from The Legend of Zelda franchise will appear in the Switch version of Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim when it releases this winter. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle from Ubisoft is a playful mash-up of the Mushroom Kingdom and the irreverent Rabbids. The turn-based combat game combines classic Mario characters and wonderfully hilarious Mario-themed Rabbids with fun exploration and gameplay. The game launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch on 29th August. EA SPORTS FIFA 18 on Switch is the most immersive, social, and authentic football game ever created for Nintendo players. Feature packed, you can now play the world's game anytime, anywhere, with anyone and in unique ways with FIFA 18, launching 29th September.

Nintendo showed details of the upcoming DLC packs for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The two packs are available only as part of the Expansion Pass for €19.99. The first pack, "The Master Trials," launches 30th June, and the second one, "The Champions' Ballad," arrives winter 2017. Nintendo also announced upcoming amiibo of the four champions from the game for release during the holiday season: the Goron champion Daruk, the Rito champion Revali, the Zora champion Mipha and the Gerudo champion Urbosa will be sold as a four-pack.

In addition to announcing Metroid Prime 4 in the Nintendo Spotlight: E3 2017 video, Nintendo also announced during Nintendo Treehouse: Live at E3 that a classic Metroid adventure would return, rebuilt from the ground up for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Metroid: Samus Returns is a modern reimagining of the 1992 Game Boy adventure Metroid II: Return of Samus. Intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran's arsenal has been enhanced with new moves and abilities such as the powerful Melee Counter, 360-degree Free Aim Mode, and mysterious Aeion Abilities, and this action-packed, side-scrolling shooter has been completely remade with engaging and immersive 3D visuals and a rich, atmospheric colour palette. The game launches on 15th September.

Wow, what a tonne of games! Most excited about Metroid and Mario.

I said when they released Federation Force that they'd lead into a Metroid 2 remake! I can't believe I was right, ( i must find that post!). I guess thats probably why they came down so hard on the AM2R. Although I definitely prefer AM2R's classic style. Metroid Samus Returns looks like Other M's art style but on 3DS. Seems a bit strange to have this on the 3DS though, I am not a fan of their two system approach at the moment...

However MP4, along with the huge announcement of a mainline Pokemon game being developed should silence the critics. The fact that RETRO aren't developing MP4 makes me wonder who is, and what RETRO are developing (i'm hedging my bets on DKCR3 or Diddy Kong racing!).

Brilliant E3 from the big N!

The future looks bright for Nintendo I think. I think it is pretty safe by now to assume that the Switch will reach previously unseen sale numbers. Almost Everyone who plays video games is going to want at least a couple of the killer apps for the system and I do see many hooks to catch new players. It feels like the system has games for everyone, and that is just counting games published by Nintendo. It will be an exciting time in gaming if Nintendo keeps this up.

The difference between illusion and reality is vague to the one who suffers from the former and questionable for the one suffering form the later.

They are too slow to replenish units in the stores though. I bet if they had the units they could have been top selling console throughout the year. I don't think that Nintendo will fear the XboxOneX , to think of the bundles at Christmas with Mario, Mario Kart and Zelda. Let alone Splatoon and ARMS. I do feel that there is still that black-hole of third party support but even when its there its a watered down version anyway (e.g FIFA). Nonetheless Nintendo have enough exclusives to warrant it's existence.

really shocked xeno2 is this year.

figured we wouldnt see it till 2019
