Update: A press release issued seconds ago by SCEE has confirmed the rumours. SCIII will be a PS2 exclusive and be published in Europe by SCEE at some point during 2005. You can give up hoping this was a bad April Fools joke now.
Despite the GameCube version of Soul Calibur II outselling other versions around the world thanks to the inclusion of Link as a playable character, it would appear that Namco has had its palms crossed with Sony's silver. According to the latest edition of GamePro magazine, due to the overall weak sales of the sequel to the DreamCast's best fighter (attributed to dilution of the userbase, it would seem), Namco has made Soul Calibur III a PlayStation 2 exclusive.
Due for release in Autumn of this year, there is still a chance that this could simply be a timed exclusive, or that the magazine has been mis-informed. But until further confirmation or dismissal is delivered we will have to sit tight and keep our fingers crossed...
