The latest edition of Hobby Consolas, a gaming magazine for Spain, has revealed a lot of new screens and images on the upcoming Legend of Zelda adventure for the GameCube. A magazine representative had the chance to play the title, and has noted several key pieces of information that we have had kindly translated to a degree by our friends at DSRevolution, Cube-Europe and GameFront.
Key points and scans can be viewed below, as accurate as can be.
General Comments
Link is in his late teenage years (approximately 16) at the beginning of the game.
As time progresses Link should grow older, but whether this is physically or just mentally/emotionally isn't currently confirmed.
Link will begin in a village where players can learn the basics of the game by completing certain tasks for fellow villagers.
Link will start with standard clothing, but where and how he obtains his weaponry could be a potential exciting storyline opening.
The bow and arrow has limited range which could play potential for more strategic battles on horseback especially.
The game's controls still work like the other 3D iterations, with L targeting and automatic jumping where needed.
The title is said to be approximately 2/3 times bigger than Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64, with around 70 hours of playtime.
Animals and different creatures make a welcome return, with improved interaction between link and the non-playable characters who he'll meet during his journey.
Interview with Eigi Aonuma
The graphic artists went for a Shonen (popular Japanese magazine style) Manga rather than a realistic CG rendered look.
The water in the game has reverted to transparent to provide a more realistic, liquid feel as opposed to the solid, classic Wind Waker approach.
The DS Zelda is said to be different to the GameCube version although the key concepts, like character interaction, should be similar.
The DS Zelda will contain online/linked play for more Four Swords action on a larger scale.
