Nintendo News | Kirby Attacks Microsoft

At a time where the bickering between the three leading companies in the gaming industry had begun to settle, Nintendo's Perrin Kaplan bites back with slightly one-sided comment whilst speaking to IGN.com recently.

Her comments relate to the impending release of the Xbox360 worldwide before the end of the calendar year, and demonstrate that Nintendo don't seem afraid. Microsoft's next home console is set to debut months before Nintendo's attempt however "Xbox has no recognition at all in Japan and very few people are aware of or anticipating Xbox 2 at this point."

Noting Microsoft's attempts to break into the country's consumer base, Kaplan criticised the company's choices giving that "Microsoft has had no success in the Japanese market and they were required to attract such developers in order to have a chance in the market." However she has forgotten that Nintendo has to do the same in order to be a success in Western regions.

" continues to be a very successful and profitable market for Nintendo," she said, "and we anticipate this to be true for the indefinite future. What might make more sense is to say that it's changing. All companies in Japan are experiencing these changes. Portable play is one additional arena that remains vibrant."

Shoving Microsoft aside, Kaplan commented on Sony's approach to the industry and its success coming from an early release and the high quality the company provides in its software.

For those dreaming of Nintendo's supposed imminent disclosure of the Revolution, turn away. "It is too early for Nintendo to discuss our strategy for Revolution," she said, "but I can tell you that we have much experience running a successful global video game company, and Nintendo will come to the dance extremely well dressed."

A somewhat bland comment from Kaplan, and without anything substancial to show to proove Nintendo's next generation effort will be as sucessful as she says, Nintendo should really concentrate on marketing their products instead of conjuring up tediously repetitive fieldsets.
