Nintendo have announced on the Official Metroid Prime website that the upcoming DS adventure will indeed have online Wi-Fi capabilities when it hits the market next year to add to the company's growing title of portable online games.
On the official Hunters website, http://www.metroidhunters.com/index2.html, Nintendo have included a Wi-Fi section with a very promising announcement:
Metroid Prime: Hunters will allow you to test your bounty hunting skills against other players through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
In addition to wireless Local Area Network gameplay, Metroid Prime: Hunters will also allow players to compete against other Metroid fans hundreds of miles away through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection gameplay. You may be the best bounty hunter in your group of friends, but how will you stack up against players from across the country? With Metroid Prime: Hunters, you'll find out.

Certainly excellent news; and very likely the reason the title has been delayed into 2006. Thanks to Aussie-Nintendo and gba.n64europe.com for the tip.
Stick with C3 for future Metroid Prime: Hunters updates.
