Industry News | Nintendo Loves the Koch

By Adam Riley 25.01.2006

Nintendo UK has today announced it will appoint Koch Media Ltd as its preferred UK distributor from 20th February, 2006. Koch Media plans to create and manage a new 'Dealer Community Scheme' which will provide extra support to its loyal Nintendo stockists nationwide.

Nintendo has appointed a preferred UK distributor in order to work more closely with the Independent sector by offering support in order to help Independents develop and grow their business further. Nintendo will continue to operate under its existing open distribution policy, meaning that it will continue to openly trade with anyone who wishes to purchase Nintendo products in the UK.

David Yarnton, General Manager of Nintendo UK had this to say on the deal:

"Nintendo is always looking for ways to improve our support and relationships with independent retailers and we are very excited to be working alongside Koch Media to develop this vital sector of the market. 2006 will be another massive year for Nintendo and we want independentts to share in our ongoing success, both in handheld and looking ahead to Revolution."

In addition, Craig McNichol, the Managing Director of Koch Media Limited shared his thoughts:

"We at Koch are proud of our long association with Nintendo and this Agreement is now the culmination of our hard work together. Our joint key goal is to simultaneously increase the business done by independents on Nintendo products at the same time as ensuring that we deliver transparent information to retailers. This transparency aims to clearly guide retailers on the sort of allocations that they may receive in order to avoid the situations that other distributors have got themselves into in recent times."
