Revolution News | Force Feedback Confirmation and more...

By Jorge Ba-oh 26.04.2006 38

With force feedback being previously rumoured and inside sources disclosing tidbits of information on the Revolution's controller, official confirmation on force feedback/rumble has come from Nintendo of Canada.

A representative from Nintendo's Canadian branch has revealed that the innovative "revmote" controller for the company's next home console will include force feedback capabilities. During the interview, which reveals a few juicy Revolution morsels, Director of Marketing, Pierre-Paul Trepanier, was question on whether the Revolution's main controller would have force feedback, and he simply replied - "yes, there is force feedback in it". However, as the interview was conducted en Fran

This will be interesting, to say the least. I still have such a small understanding on this "force feedback" idea...

So, does this basically mean it will include a rumble pack?

I think he's just referring to rumble to be honest.

I don't think so, though I don't doubt that'll be included.

There is, however, still debate on whether the motion sensor equipment (originally seen in some publicity photos and videos)

Huh? When the hell have they been shown?

Im wondering the same thing. I don't recall seeing anything other than the controler and the console.

During the n64 era force feedback was simply rumble. Anyone remember those force feedback steering wheels? well they didn't have gyroscopes!

That's because they're attached to something fixed

Yeah but he has a point, they were reffered to as having force feed back but it was just slightly more rumbly .

There is?

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

im so confused, it cant just be rumble because that is just standard and its definitely not worth keeping a secret for. Force Feedback? is this going to include some sort of force field in mid air? lol
Can you explain at all JB?????

Wasn't there a small bar or something that sits next to the TV - I'm sure I've seen it somewhere!

You're probably right and all with it being just standard rumble. However it's saying that they've found a way to have decent battery time AND rumble on the wireless controllers. If I remember correctly the GC Wavebird didn't have it.

Yes, we've all known from the word go that there would be a sensor bar, hence my confusion at this:

Did you write that or was it from the interview, I can never tell as C3 allways seems to merge stuff like press releases into everything as if it's fact rather than marketing or opinion.Smilie

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

The wavebird doesn't have it, which is like the only con to the thing Smilie

There is, but we've never seen it.

We have actually, a prototype at least. I'll find it...

From IGN's devkit hands-on.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

I was under the impression that that was an IGN mock-up.

You have to be kidding about that bar, somehow puts me off. Nightmares about huge over-complicated set-ups come to mind. Smilie

Force feedback wasn't included in previous wireless controllers because of the issues to do with battery problems and general weighing down of the controller itself,

To me that as much as confirms that they're referring to rumble there, as the wavebird didn't have rumble as jb said.

No one is saying it's the secret slydevil.

Rumble IS force feedback.

Forcefeedback is a generic term for any physical feedback

Rumble is a specific term.

Exactly ^

As for the rumble issue, it was "confirmed" right back at the TGS stage, with Nintendo stating the rumble was missing from the tech demo controller units but would be in the finished product.

With (Edit, proper) force feedback anyone, a bit strange to not have it in the first place - unless it was hiding something secret Smilie Smilie

Yeah, force feedback is rumble, and yeah, this has been confirmed by Nintendo before.
Basically, the revmote vibrates, nothing else has been said, yet.

Perhaps that's what the gyroscope is for? Ever play with one? They exert a force.

Though I'd imagine the battery wouldn't last too long.

I really do hope they choose to go with a rechargable battery.

Not quite, it's a render of the one they saw.
