When Nintendo announced that Cing was working on a game called Another Code for the Nintendo DS ('Trace Memory' in the US), many wondered just how good it would be. However, it turned out to be a very absorbing experience and word from Cing is that another version is currently in the offing.
However, in the meantime we have Nintendo's own spin on that adventure genre. It has enrolled Red Entertainment to bring Project Hacker to the DS, with some believing it could be a spiritual successor to the Detective Hack games on the Famicom during the 1980s.
Players take control of a detective called Satoru who is a member of a group titled 'GIS'. He must use his hacking and data-processing skills to help investigate any cyber crimes that are happening. Therefore, gamers are in charge of aiding his quest by solving puzzles, correcting programmes, uncovering passwords, and so on. This is all done by using the touch-screen for instant hands-on action.
Currently still set for a vague '2006' release in Japan, given the success of similar games in the West, this could definitely be picked up...
Stay tuned for more!
