E3 2006 News | Nibris Promises Wii Sadness Trailer

By Mike Mason 04.05.2006 38

We've been sitting on this for a while now, but Polish developer Nibris have now publicly confirmed that gothic horror Wii title Sadness will be shown in trailer form in the next few days, between the 10th and 14th May.

To give people a little taster, they have issued the following images as a preview of the trailer, as well as a new logo. Click the thumbnails to see the complete (and outrageously huge) images.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

I 'aint no adult, but I have nerves of steel!!! STEEL I SAY!!!!!!

I'll try this game out no problem.

What is it with the official ftp release size images on C3 these days? You could compete with GamesPress if you keep this up.Smilie

Those are what've been given to us, sometimes I just can't be arsed resizing. Smilie

Is that last pic a pic of the game graphics? They look awesome if they are. Can't wait to here more about this game. Smilie

Working like a fiend isn't very fun... and surprisingly isn't very fiendish either.

Is that a wii controller in her hand? Cause theres a TV in the first picture so maby she's just an actor mimicking the type of movment used in the game?

Are those in game graphics? Or are they pre-renderd?
XD What the hell? It's obviously a real picture... It's just demonstrating some of the actions used to play the game. I assume that the trailer will show how you play it...

Yeah, I assume a lot of Wii trailers for games making use of the controler will do somthin similer, showing you how the controler is used.

I was talking about the last pic.

Concept I believe.

K thanks Mason Smilie

Hmm... Has anyone else noticed what seems to be a black hand reaching up (by the woman's right hand) in that last picture?

(It also kinda looks like she's looking at it... Very intresting)

Yep, it does seem to be what she's looking at. I assume it's some kind of monster she's killing, but it could also be that it's a hallucination of hers, since schizophrenia is one of the heavy themes of the game.

Is it? I hadn't heard about that... I'm interested to see what exactly the 'horror' portion of the game will be. Hopefully not more zombies, since they're seriously over used.

Damnit I need to find something to make the next 5 days go much faster...

Yeah, I was wondering about that. Maybe she brings it back to life?....maybe not. And also is that a shovel she is holding or some kind of weapon?.....I guess a shovel could be used as a weapon though haha.

The horror portion is based more on atmosphere, fear of darkness and schizophrenia than anything else I think. Read my feature on Nibris, Raid Over The River and Sadness from a while back here: The Indie Scene Issue 2 | Nibris.

And I vote 'shovel'.

I also vote shovelSmilie. That picture also suggests that that woman is the player character as she is holding a tool, which suggests control with the remote. I'm guessing picture 2 corresponds to picture 3.

Precisely, Grumbler. Smilie The controller will likely mainly be representing the tools/weapons, from shovels, rope to hook onto walls...her umbrella...

looks good!!! i like the Logo aswell!! cant wait to see the trailer!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

I vote shovel, and this game is definitely going to be oozing with style... I love it Smilie

You can see why Nintendo has approached Nibris and asked that this be made a priority over RotR Wii. Could be a potential Eternal Darkness beater in my eyes...and I LOVE that game!

I would have preferred RotR but this looks pretty amazing too. I love the way that it's not set in an alternative reality present day America like every other bloody horrer game. I also love the way they're using loads of eastern-european influences rather than imitating American influences which is what just about every other western developer does, even the british ones.

Ninty acually did that? Awesome!

I have to admit, this game is attracting me with every new news coming out. Agreeing with raz on eternal darkness, also. That game was aweosme and if Nibris does this thing right, we could see a whole-new generation of games on the wii as well as a possible sequel to eternal darkness! Smilie

There are still rumours that an ED sequel will eventually arrive after the first Too Human game on XBOX360...after all, ED was meant to be a series, not just one game. And Denis Dyack has said he'd still like to work with Nintendo in the future in some way, especially after the great work with Konami on MGS: Twin Snakes.
