Cubed3 Staff: E3 Hopes and Dreams
The Merry Crew of the Good Ship Cubed3 :: 5th May 2006

Well, E3 is getting oh so very close and we here at Cubed3 can't wait for what is promising to be one of the grestest gaming events of all time. Yes, E3 is always exciting, but never before has a console like Wii been shown. Nintendo's latest and hopefully greatest home console is promising great things. Soon we'll have a much better idea of just how good it is. In an attempt to put hype to paper and write something worthwhile, a select group of eager staffers have stepped up to the proverbial plate to deliver you their E3 2006 Hopes and Dreams.

Jorge Baoh (jb)

E3, E3 how we love thee! It's that time of year once more where developers and publishers get dolled up to promote and inform. It's definitely an exciting year this time round, with the Revolution (or as we better know it as Wii) being fully disclosed to a bunch of hungry press punters and gamers clenching their trousers in anticipation. This year we're going to see what the two biggest gaming companies have to offer: Nintendo and Sony. I'm definitely excited to see what these two beasts will be bringing to, and hopefully expanding, the market in 2006.

Both companies will finally show their next-generation consoles, but Nintendo Wii on the competition? It'll sure be exciting to find out! On the Nintendo front there is definitely a lot to look out for

Great comments guys, really inspirational, Smilie. I particularly like Temperton's ontake of E3 and John's as well, but a round of applause to all of you guys and I, for one, will be on the edge of my seat awaiting what you have in store for us.

Don't mention it, Smilie. It gave me a chuckle, a smile and generally equipped me up ready for E3, Smilie. Not to mention you're head of features so the ball is in your court I would imagine where these featurettes are concerned. I just hope you can manage the workload. Remember... lots of coffee... lots of sugar... Smilie

I often try to predict Nintendo's next innovation, I usually get some interesting ideas flowing, then they blow them all to s**t.
With the hints provided within Nintendo's subliminal speeches/messages I came to the conclusion the interface would have had an analogue 'thimble' you placed your thumb in and was then able to play in 3d space.
Needless to say, Nintendo topped my assumption with the remote, able to play in 3d space without the the restrictions of the limited thumb distance/travel.
Also by holding the Wiimote, you can potentially animate virtual hands/arms in real-time.

Anyhow, even after being sure this was what Nintendo was doing, and evidently, I wasn't far off, *remaining humble* my ideas for software weren't far off hovering Mario clones.
The way I see it, either theres something about the hardware thats relevant to unique game developement that we dont know about yet, or I have no idea what I'm talking about...
I await the truth.

Erm, pretty darn excellent. Looking forward to it peeps!

This article's storming with over 10,000 hits already thanks to the Google link. We always do well on Google News in general, but the VERY front page of the news, not just the Nintendo search page, is a new high... Smilie

Let's hope E3 doesn't hurt us too much! Smilie
